Quartz stone is a new type of stone material composed of approximately 90% quartz sand powder and 10% resin, formed by high-pressure vibration pressing under vacuum conditions and then cured at high temperatures. It is an easy-to-use, environmentally friendly, and green building and decorative material. Quartz sand and quartz powder make up approximately 90% of the stone, while resin, pigment, and other auxiliary materials make up approximately 10%. The larger the particle size, the lower the resin content.
Quartz stone is favored for its durability and resistance to stains, scratches, and heat. Its widespread use is especially evident in countertops and other surfaces that are frequently subjected to heavy use in kitchens, bathrooms, and commercial spaces.
Silicosis: Crystalline silica, primarily in the form of quartz, poses significant health hazards when inhaled. These risks are most pronounced during the cutting, grinding, or polishing of quartz products, as these activities release fine silica particles into the air. These particles are small enough to be inhaled deep into the lungs, leading to irreversible and often fatal conditions.
Korey Stone has developed low-silica and zero-silica quartz to reduce and prevent the risks posed by crystalline silica to workers during stone processing. Most quartz colors are currently available in low-silica and zero-silica versions. Please feel free to inquire.
